A tournament for owners of Mercedes Benz, will tee off at the Muthaiga Golf Club on 15^th of this month. Similar versions of the tournament will take place in 60 other nations across the world with best ranked participants converging in Stuttgart, Germany for three rounds of play in October 1^st.

The tournament dubbed Mercedes Trophy Kenya 2015 is powered by DT Dobie and and the format of play will be stableford. The competition will see the best three ranked players qualify for semi-finals in Salzburg, Austria in May 31^st where winners from the six African nations engage their Asian counterparts for tickets to the finals.

Only owners of Mercedes Benz cars are allowed to play the tournament and proof of ownership, log book, is required before registration. The purely amateur tournament has a ‘Drive to the Major’ competition which requires golfer to hit the ball close to a marked line in the fairway. The winner of Drive to the Major competition wins a luxury accommodation at St. Andrews in Scotland for the open which is scheduled for July 15^th to 20^th.

In 2014 a trial tournament held to prepare Kenyans for participation in this year’s worldwide series was won by 14 handicap Muthaiga golfer Abid Ganatra with a Stableford score of 43 points.

DT Dobie Managing Director Razak Khan lauded the car maker for considering Kenya in their worldwide series. “ Since DT Dobie was appointed as Mercedes agent for Kenya in 1949 we have had a long and happy relationship with the golfing fraternity.
