Vet Lab’s Nelson Simwa has official dumped the amateur golf ranks for a new professional career.

The long hitting Simwa who was the vice captain during the Africa Zone VI competition in Uganda where Kenya finished fourth overall announced this to www.kenyagolfguide.co.ke today and his first engagement as a professional will be during the third leg of the KCB Pro Am Tour set for Nyanza Sports Club early next month.

“The Zone VI golf championships in Uganda was my last tournament as an amateur. I wanted to turn professional immediately after the Kenya Open especially because my sponsor Duncan Kibue of Chase Bank was happy with my performance and guaranteed me sponsorship, but I wanted to first represent my country first, before crossing the divide,” Simwa told www.kenyagolfguide.co.ke.

He added: “It has been about four good years as a top amateur player and I think it is high time I turn professional. My swing is good, I have developed massively in the sport over the years and now feel ready to play against the best.”

He said the KCB Tour event in Nyanza will be his first challenge but was also focusing on the Mena Tour in North Africa and Uganda Open in August.

He will, however, want to quickly forget his dismal performance at the Zone VI championships that ended at the weekend where he lost twice to 17 year-old Zimbabwean Kieran Vincent and Ugandan captain Adolf Muhumuza. cheap air max mens cheap air max mens
