The tournament will see players drawn from golf clubs across the country battle for top honours on the Ruiru course, which is currently playing at par 71. The event will also feature the club’s patrons and elite golfers, promising a strong and competitive field across the various categories.

Speaking ahead of the event, Ruiru Sports Club Captain Justus Mathenge said: “We are delighted to host the Institute of Public Finance Golf Tournament this weekend. The course is in excellent condition, and golfers can expect a fair but challenging test. Every hole presents its own opportunity and challenge, and players will need to be disciplined and strategic to post good scores.”

Golfers will compete for prizes including the overall winner, men’s winner, ladies’ winner, guest winner, nearest-to-the-pin, and longest-drive accolades.

Beyond the competition, the club will also take time to celebrate the Ruiru Sports Club Elites following their recent triumph in the Patrons Cup Mug category, adding to the growing list of achievements for the club’s golfing fraternity.

“Ruiru Sports Club continues to grow in stature, and we are proud of the caliber of events that we are increasingly hosting. In recent months, the club has hosted the Sunshine Development Tour for professional golfers, as well as events such as Eland and Space and the Britam Golf Series,” noted Ruiru Sports Club Chairman Jessy Ndegwa.

The Institute of Public Finance, an independent, non-partisan and non-profit think tank established in 2013, works to advance the principles and practice of public finance management. Based in Nairobi, IPF supports stakeholders through policy research and advocacy, technical assistance, and capacity strengthening, working with public sector leaders at both county and national levels, development partners, civil society organizations, and oversight agencies.
