Golf enthusiasts will this weekend be spoilt for choice as the Dasani Golf Gala has a double header with one qualifier being held at the 6, 024m long Nyeri Golf Club course and the other one being held at the par 72 Sigona Golf Club both on the same day.

This is the first time the competition will be having a double header and at least 16 new qualifiers for the September 29 Grand Finale will be known by the end of business on Saturday, eight from each of the two clubs.

So far 80 players have booked their tickets to the finale planned for Karen Golf and Country Club after the first 10 qualifiers held at Kiambu, Thika, Vet Lab, Windsor, Nyali, Leisure Lodge, Railways, Royal, Nakuru and Karen.

At Nyeri a field of 114 players have been attracted to feature in the day long tournament where a number of gifts will be available apart from the qualifying slots. The club officials have, however, warned the players to expect a difficult mountainous course next to the Outspan Hotel, the home of lord Baden Powell, the founder of the Boys Scouts.

Some of the players expected to spice up the Nyeri event will include B. Kingori, R. Kabugi, A. Ndegwa and S. Mwangi .

President Mwai Kibaki is the patron of the par 72, 18 hole club which is regarded as the second oldest golf club in the country having been built in 1910.

This difficult mountainous course offers exquisite scenery of the longest mountain in Africa, Mt Kenya which can be seen from the 6th tee. The course also had well hunkered greens, deep roughs and very tall evergreens plus a stream and a valley all contribute to make it a tough course. It is also the traditional venue for golf tournaments such as The Pan Africa Club and The Kibaki Cup.

This year, the grand prize will see the winning team of four players travel to Dubai to attend the Grand Finale of the European Tour, the DP World Tour Championships at the Jumeirah Golf Estates. While in Dubai, they will also have the opportunity to see Europe’s top 60 money earners on the 2012 Order of Merit battle it out for a 1.3 million winner’s cheque.

In addition, they will play at some of the best golf courses in the region, including the Dubai Creek Course and the challenging Faldo Course at the Emirates Golf Club, a course designed by former world number 1 and six-time major Champion Sir Nick Faldo. pulsera pandora barata pulsera pandora barata
