World number 624 Andrew Landry moved three shots clear of the field in the first round of the US Open on Thursday before play was halted for a second time due to thunderstorms.

The 28-year-old Texan, playing in his first major, went out in 33 at Oakmont after birdies at the 10th and 17th before adding another at the second to get to three-under before the first bout of bad weather forced a 79-minute suspension of play.

He then came back out at the resumption and had back-to-back birdies at the third and fourth to move three shots clear only for the horn to sound again following peals of thunder.

Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson was on two-under after 11 holes, level with former world number one Lee Westwood, Swede David Lingmerth, Danny Lee of New Zealand and young American hope Bryson DeChambeau, who had three birdies in five holes from the 11th.

Defending champion Jordan Spieth was level par through seven, but world number three Rory McIlroy had a poor start and stood at two-over after seven holes.

World number one Jason Day and six-time runner-up Phil Mickelson both had afternoon tee-times with more thunderstorms in the forecast. cheap nike air max 90 online cheap nike air max 90 online
