Champions Kenya have managed to cut arch rivals South Africa’s lead to a single point after the third day of the on going Africa Zone VI Golf Championships at the par 71  Nyali Golf and Country Club Course in Mombasa.

The locals, who won last year’s trophy in Botswana, finished the third day on 19 points to pile pressure on the pre-tournament favourites South Africa who have a total of 20 points. They only lost one match and ironically against South Africa and halved against Namibia but won the remaining matches to raise their hope of retaining the coveted title.

South Africa’s Strokeplay champion Jared Harvey who was beaten 3-2 by Kenya’s Stefan Anderson in Gaberone last year, had sweet revenge yesterday as he emerged 2 ups victorious over the same opponent.

Kenyan wins came from James Karanja who beat Zimbabwe’s Greg Bently 4-3, while Boniface Simwa beat Tanzania’s Abbas Adam 3-2 and Amos Kamau had a walk over against Zambia’s Mirza Shiraz who withdrew.

Other Kenya’s who won their matches are Jay Sandhu who beat Swaziland’s N. Tsabeze 4-3, Collins Omondi beat Bostwana’s K. Dube 4-3 and Mombasa’s 15 year-old Daniel Nduva completed trend by beating Mozambique’s Jose Manhica by 2 ups.

South Africans lost two matches to Swaziland 2-4 and Zimbabwe by 2-3.

Tanzania and Zimbawe shared the third position on 13 points, while Namibia is fifth on 12.5 points and Swaziland is sixth on 10.5 points.

Bostwana are currently placed seventh on 9.5 points, while Malawi and Zambia are tied on eighth position on 9 points and Mozambique is last on 4.5 points. michael kors tasche sale michael kors tasche sale

Kenya mounted a spirited fight on the second day of the ongoing Africa Zone VI at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club but could not dislodged favourites from the top of the leader board, trailing their rivals by a mere 2.5 points deficit.
Reigning champions Kenya now have 8.5 points, two more from first day’s 6.5, while arch rivals South Africa are on 11 points.
Kenyan captain Francis Kimani  teamed  up with  Amos Kamau to boost the home boys  2 up against Tanzania’s  Adam Abass and  Nuru  Mollel .
James Karanja and Jay Sandhu also  raised  Kenyans  hopes by  outclassing the Zambia’s Gibson Mutuva and Mwila Mwango by 5-4 points.
But  the  team of  Stefan Anderson  and  Boniface Simwa  lost  to South Africa’s  Ryan Driyer and  Jared Harvey  4-6 , while  their compatriots Collins Omondi and Nelson Mudanyi  lost 1 up to Namibia’s R. Jeffrey and Ruan Huyshamen.
The South Africans won all their four matches  beating  Kenya 6-4,  Mozambique 9-7, Malawi 3-1 and Zimbabwe  2-1.
Tanzania and Namibia shared  third position on seven points, while Botswana and Swaziland were tied on fifth place on 6.5 points each.
