SuperSport viewers on DStv can look forward to seeing all the action from the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 August 2021.

SuperSport is the ultimate destination for Golf fans, with an unparalleled selection of action from around the world.

The Wyndham Championship is the sixth oldest event on the PGA Tour, dating back to 1938 as the Greater Greensboro Open. This year will see the 82nd edition of the tournament, with American Jim Herman returning as the defending champion after he finished one stroke clear of compatriot Billy Horschel in 2020.

I love defending and it was great defending at Barbasol and it just all goes with it,” Herman said. “You know all eyes are on you to start the week and I know I’ll look forward to it again.”

The Bermuda rough at the Sedgefield Country Club is set to pose a major challenge, but Herman says he is in favour of penalising errant shots off the tee.

You get a bad Bermuda lie or just a regular rough lie around the green you just kind of have to gauge how it’s coming out,” he explained. “We need golf courses to have rough, and have it be a penalty and putting a premium on driving the ball in the fairway and hitting quality iron shots into the greens.”

The defending champion added, “I just know I’m a pretty good driver of the golf ball and length isn’t too much of an issue so I go around with a 3-wood quite a bit. You know it just sets up well off the tee for me and you know, I just have a good positive vibes when I show up here.”

The 2021 Wyndham Championship’s field will also feature other former champions such as Si Woo Kim, J.T Poston, Ryan Moore, Camilo Villegas, K.J. Choi, Brandt Snedeker and Webb Simpson, as well as Louis Oosthuizen, two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson, major winners Jason Day, Justin Rose, Francesco Molinari and Gary Woodland.

Simpson is particularly looking forward to returning to the Wyndham Championship:”I love the golf course, and I’ve always loved the golf course because we don’t play many courses like Sedgefield (a Donald Ross design) that are short and have fast greens… I feel really comfortable out there and even when I come in and I haven’t been playing great, I feel like I can always compete there.”

The Ross Course at Sedgefield Country Club is a 7,127 yard par 70 course. The purse for the Wyndham Championship is $6.4million.
