INDIZA TAKES OVERNIGHT LEAD AS JAMII TELCOM PGK MASTERS GOLF TEES OFF AT SIGONA

Mumias’ resident professional Dismas Indiza has taken a two shot over night lead after playing five under par 68 in the opening round of Jamii Telcom PGK Masters at Sigona Golf Club, where the competition scratch score was 73 today.
Indiza who was among the three locals to make the cut at last year’s Kenya Open Golf Championships, had an impressive opening round today, sinking a birdie on the par four second hole before he picked an albatros on the par five hole four a first nine score of 33. In the second nine, he sunk a birdie on the par five hole 10, picked another eagle on the par five hole 15, but had a double bogey on the par four hole 17 for a second nine score of 35.
Nyanza’s David Odhiambo is second on the leader board after the first round after he managed three under par 70 made up of four birdies in the second nine where he dropped a single point. In the first nine he sunk a single birdie and had two bogeys.
On form Muthaiga’s Greg Snow are currently tied in the third position on two under par 71 together with Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) captain CJ Wangai and John Kagiri.
Reigning Jamii Telcom champion Simon Ngige of Thika is tied fifth together with Muthaiga’s Nelson Mudanyi and Charan Thethy of Royal on one under par 72, while Kopan Timbe is on level par 73.
The pros who are using the competition as part of their preparation for next week’s Kenya Open Golf Championships, will be joined by at least 160 amateurs in the final round on Friday.
