Professional and amateur golfers will join hands with Africa Cancer Foundation to raise cancer awareness and free screening when the second edition of the Pan Africa Life Golf Series tees off this weekend at Nyeri Golf and Country Club.

The golf series, to be held across six towns in the country shall feature free cancer screening clinics to different communities a day before each golf event. A portion of the golfers green fees will be channeled to a programme of cancer prevention, early detection and treatment of those unable to afford treatment.

Africa Cancer Foundation Managing Director Dorothy Nyong’o lauded the initiative terming it a success shared among like-minded individuals out to to attain a worthy cause. “I’m humbled to see the kind of support people offer to help fight against cancer. The first step is to eradicate ignorance on the causes and symptoms of cancer” said Mrs Nyong’o

She called on golfer to help spread the healthy lifestyle message to their fans and urged communities to take the opportunity of free screening around the golfing venues. “Come out and know your cancer status. There will be screening of Prostate, breast and cervical cancer.” She said

Kenya Golfers Union Chairman Francis Okwara said Nyeri will host the opening leg tomorrow before it moves to on May 24th. Nakuru will host the tournament on June 23 while the Nyali Golf and Country club play host in July 26th. The championship heads to Eldoret on 29th August before the tourney concludes in Nairobi.

The overall winner of Pan Africa Cancer Challenge wins a fully paid trip to participate in the 2014 Sanlam Cancer Challenge that will be held at the Sun City Golf Resort from 21st to 22nd October. air max 97 air max 97
