Over 100 golfers will this Saturday converge at the 11-hole par 70 Nyanza Country Club for the sixth leg of the Tusker Malt Golf Carnival, in the penultimate tournament of the 2011 calendar.

The huge field of golfers have been drawn from host Nyanza, Kisii, Kericho, Mumias and Kakamega and will be battling for top spot in the scenic lakeside region.

Club Captain Tobias See says in spite of the heavy rains that have been experienced lately, the course is in good condition. “We do not expect flooding and even though the course is wet, it is manageable all the same. Golfers will be playing fairly long and we are positive it will be an exciting tournament,” he says.

He however cautions that the slippery course might pose a challenge to the high handicapped golfers. “We expect the high handicappers might be thrown out of their element given the slippery and wet course but the low handicapped golfers are sure to manage just fine, “ says Captain See.

Morning action begins at 7am and the afternoon tee off is scheduled for 1.30pm. “We intend to begin very early because of the huge field of golfers. Nyanza Country Club is 11-hole and with so many players the earlier we start the earlier we can finish,” says Captain See.

The crop of golfers from Nyanza are in top form, See says, making it almost impossible to predict the potential winners. “I have absolute confidence in Nyanza Club and I feel that players from Kakamega, Kericho, Mumias and Kisii will be in for a treat from handicap 6 golfer Peter Owino and J. C.  Lee of handicap 22 who will pair up with me, “says Captain Lee.

Nyanza Country Club is located near the shores of Lake Victoria, something the Captain says adds to the golfing experience. “We are honored to be hosting EABL. Nyanza Club cannot be ignored as it is the gateway into East Africa. We consider ourselves the headquarters of all the other clubs and playing host to this tournament definitely adds to our reputation, “ says Captain See.

The 2011 calendar closes at Limuru Golf Club on December 17, 2011 in the seventh leg of the Tusker Malt Golf Carnival that has so far been to Kenya Railways Golf Club, Machakos, Njoro, Kiambu and Eldoret. Muthaiga Golf Club takes over in the new year on January 21.

The carnival is scheduled to visit 30 golf clubs and engage some 10, 000 golfers from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda in a regional tour aimed at promoting bonding and friendship, the brand value of Tusker Malt. nike air max hombre nike air max hombre
