By ENOCK NGOME
East African Breweries Ltd’s Tusker Team has unveiled a revamped Tusker Malt Golf Carnival for this season. The Carnival, initially launched in 2009 in Kenya and Rwanda, will now expand to cover Uganda and Tanzania.
Speaking during the launch ceremony at the Kenya Railway Golf Club, Tusker Marketing Manager for Kenya, Ken Kareithi, said that the new championship would include over 40 golf clubs from East Africa.
“The 2011 Tusker Malt Golf Carnival will be a regional affair, hosted in nearly 30 golf clubs from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda and an expected participation by over 10,000 golfers,” Kareithi said. “The bulk of the championships will be hosted across 16 venues in Kenya, with members of the 39 golf clubs locally participating from September 2011 through to April 2012.”
In keeping with the key brand values of Tusker Malt, the Golf Carnival is going to give golfers the chance to enhance the spirit of friendship and bonding. The Tusker Malt brand team has also introduced a new and exciting twist to this season’s championship.
He added: “In line with Tusker Malt’s innovative approach to embrace change and improvement on the amateur golf scene, this time, we will be asking golfers to register and participate in pairs in what golfers refer to as the FOUR BALL BETTER BALL format. Tusker Malt is a very social brand and we believe that competing in pairs will resonate better with golfers.”
The FOUR BALL BETTER BALL format is widely used in international competition including the Africa Amateur Golf Championships and the Ryder Cup.
The 2011 Tusker Malt Golf Carnival kicks off this weekend at the Kenya Railway Golf Club before moving to the Machakos Golf Club, the Njoro Country Club, the Thika Sports Club and Vet Lab Sports Club. Events in other East African countries will tee off in November and December 2011. air max schwarz air max schwarz
