Nyanza based lawyer Jane Staussi braved the heavy coastal winds to return a total of 34 stable ford points and lift the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Chairman’s 2011 trophy in a golf tournament played at the par 72 Leisure Golf Club course in South Coast of Mombasa on Saturday.
Playing off handicap 36, Staussi started with disastrous mixed pot of bogeys in six holes except the par four- fourth hole and par three- fifth hole where she sank a birdie to birdie.
She scratched the par five-ninth hole to end the outward nines with 18 points.
Staussi closed the inward nines on 16 points after sinking a par on the par three- fifteenth hole and rolled a mixed pot of bogeys on the rest. She, however, disastrously scratched holes thirteen and fourteen but ended with the best points to claim the overall slot.
“ I did not expect to win the event, but concentration and more help from my caddy made my day for which am grateful. I will train hard to defend the title next year’ said Staussi. Handicap 29, M.Kiruti was the runners up on a score of 33 points.
In both nines, Kiruti rolled pars on six holes, scratched three holes and played a mixed pot of bogeys on the rest of holes.
Paul Salvi playing off handicap 24 was third on a score of 32 points while handicap 22 P.Karingu settled for the fourth slot on a point behind. Naivasha based developers company, Longonot gate sponsored the one day 18 holes stable ford tournament that attracted 75 lawyers around the country and Coastal golfers who were playing as guests. The Lawyers were attending their week long annual conference at the Resort’s hotel.
Jonathan Evans of Leisure Club playing off handicap 17, who had the highest score of the day on 38 points was the guest winner, while club mates  Lucas Shikanda playing off handicap 25 had 35 points and Amos Kamau scored 34 points.
They third and fourth respectively.
At the par 71 Nyali golf and Country club course in Mombasa, handicap 6 Allan Dainty emerged the overall winner on 40 points in the Commercial Bank of Africa Sponsored tournament played on Saturday.
Dainty played easy bogeys on seven holes but improved after sinking a birdie to birdie on holes five and six to end the outward nines on  20 points.
He returned in the inward nines sinking six pars with a birdie on hole 11 and an easy two bogeys to add more 20 points and claim the trophy. Left handed golfer Yatich Kang’ungo was the Men’s Winner on a score of 37 points after registering a 17-20 in both nines.
Mombasa golf Club former Chairman Eric Nyongesa settled for the runners up slot on a two way count back score of 36 points after tying on the same points with handicap11 Martin Wahome who claimed the third place.
Florence Aranga playing off handicap 36 was the lady winner on a score of 35, points, a point ahead of handicap 32 Suhas Gudka who was the runners up.
Mangu High School boy Roy Maina playing off handicap 10 scored 36 points to emerge the best Junior while handicap 21 Clive Barnsley was the Best Senior on the same score. Samson Mbarathi scored  27 points  to win the Staff Prize.
