WINNER'S SWING: Thika's Simon Ngige follows his tee shot during the KCB Tour Nyanza leg at the weekend.

Thika’s Simon Ngige made it two out of three with a deserved win at the KCB East Africa Golf Tour third leg held at the nine-hole Nyanza golf club on four over par 284 after beating veteran Jacob Okello in a play off.

On the final day, he started poorly with a bogey on the par five first hole, dropped another shot on the par four fourth hole, but recovered with a birdie on the next hole, a par five fifth and picked another shot on the par three eighth hole.

In the second nine, Ngige started with bogeys on the par five 10th hole, par four 11th and par four 12th. He dropped another shot on the par three 16th hole to end the nine on 35.

“The greens were bumpy, but I’m happy with the win. I’m now focused on the forth coming 4th leg that would be in Arusha Golf Club Tanzania between May 11 and 15,” said Ngige who pocketed Sh110, 000 for the feat.

Ngige and Okello had tied on four over on the final day forcing into a play off on the par five, 550 yards hole one where Ngige hit a birdie to emerge the winner and Okello a managed a par.

Royal’s Chahan Thethy was third on six over par 286 having collected and Dismas Indiza of Mumias finished fourth seven over par 287.

Okello earned Sh90, 000, while Thethy took home Sh83, 000 and Indiza pocketed Sh58, 000. canada goose sale canada goose sale

Simon Ngige maintained his lead at the on going KCB East Africa Golf Tour Nyanza leg after the third at the nine-hole Nyanza Golf Club.

The Thika player is now on one over par 211 entering into Saturday’s final round and remains the strong favourite after day one leaders Greg Snow and Charan Thethy fizzled out in the last two rounds.

The player who won the order of merit last year, started with four back to back pars, a bogeyed on the 530-yards par 5 fifth hole, but recovered on the 6th hole with a birdie.

Ngige dropped two shots on the par three seventh hole before leveling the next two holes to finish the nine on 33.

In the second nine, Ngige started with a birdie, pared the second two holes before dropping a shot on the par three 13th hole. He picked shots on the 14th, 15th and 16th holes respectively before leveling the remaining holes to wrapping up his back nine on 37.

Royal’s Chahan Thethy trails Ngige after hitting level par 70 during the third round for a total of three over par 213.

Chahan Thethy had a fantastic start with a par,birdied on par four,a par on 3rd hole,bogeyed on the 233-yard par 3,a birdie on 5th hole and wrapped up his front nine with four back to back pars to hit 36 points.

Thethy’s back nine was very captivating hitting 9 clean pars dropping a shot on 14th and picked on 17th to hit 34 points where he leveled.

Lorum still maintained his third position with 4 over par 214 having shot four birdies on 4th, 11th, 14th and 15th holes to hit at 1 over par 71 on round three from a poor start of 4 over par 74 on round one where he gained momentum on round two with 1 under par 69.

Lorum hit six pars on his front nine with a bogey on the 230-yards 7th hole and par 3 on the 8th hole.His back nine wasn’t all in smiles where he hit pars on 10th,13th and 18th holes with bogeys on 12th,16th and 17th holes.

Golf parks David Okello hit five over par 215 to close the top four leading in the tourney with round ones Pro Greg snow dropping points from day one to14 under par 224.

Out of 24 professionals on round three, 18 have made a cut to the final round which gets underway this morning with stiff competition expected between Simon Ngige,Shahan Thethy and James Lolum where the winner gets away with ksh.110,000 and a direct entry to the next series in Arusha Early next month.
