Nine-hole Kisii Sports Club will on Saturday play host to the 16th leg of the on going Dasani Golf Gala where eight players would earn a ticket to the tournament’s Grand Finale slated for the Karen Golf and Country Club on September 29.

Tournament organizer Bobby Macharia speaking during the 15th leg held at Machakos Golf Club last Saturday urged players to use the remaining qualifiers to seek tickets for the finale, which had a lot on offer. After Kisii, there will be only two qualifiers remaining, in Muthaiga and Limuru.

According to Kisii Club’s captain Andrew Kombo, the town has been experiencing on and off rainfalls and players should be prepared for any conditions. The club is the second oldest golf club in Kenya after Royal club Nairobi- which was established in 1906 a few months after the latter club.

Kombo said the teams to watch in the day long competition were the team’s made up of himself, Charles Aburi, J.B.Onyambu and C. Ondieki whom will be seeking to bounce back after losing the finale slot last season on countback. Another team to watch is one led by Gurdit Verdee from Kericho Club, it has seasoned golfers who are currently playing good golf.

So far 120 players have booked their tickets to the finale planned for Karen Golf and Country Club after the first 10 qualifiers held at Kiambu, Thika, Vet Lab, Windsor, Nyali, Leisure Lodge, Railways, Royal, Nakuru, Karen, Nyanza, Eldoret and Machakos.

This year, the grand prize will see the winning team of four players travel to Dubai to attend the Grand Finale of the European Tour, the DP World Tour Championships at the Jumeirah Golf Estates. While in Dubai, they will also have the opportunity to see Europe’s top 60 money earners on the 2012 Order of Merit battle it out for a 1.3 million winner’s cheque.

In addition, they will play at some of the best golf courses in the region, including the Dubai Creek Course and the challenging Faldo Course at the Emirates Golf Club, a course designed by former world number 1 and six-time major Champion Sir Nick Faldo.
