Nakuru’s professional golfer Richard Ainley has pulled out of this year’s Barclays Kenya Open Golf Championship set for Karen Club from Wednesday.

Ainley made the announcement to www.kenyagolfguide.co.ke on Friday evening after being crowned the runner up at the third edition of the JTL Masters.

He said organizers of the tournament had made it too expensive for local players to feature at the tournament and if one failed to make the cut, would end up losing big time.

“I will not be playing at this year’s Kenya Open. I am serious and my decision is final,” said Ainley.

He added: “Playing at the Kenya Open one needs a minimum of Sh60, 000, because there is a registration fee of Sh20, 000, caddie fee for a whole week is Sh21, 000 and transport to and from the venue including food, the figure goes beyond Sh60, 000. Why should I pay to play at the Open?” nike air max femme pas cher nike air max femme pas cher

David Odhiambo completed a spirited display with an overall win at the third edition of the JTL Masters that ended today at the par 71 Muthaiga Golf Club.

He had played one under par 70 in the final round to rule the roost with a total score of four under par 280.

The win saw Odhiambo who maintained the lead from the second day, go home with a winner’s cash prize of Sh190, 000.

During yesterday’s round, he started with a par on the par four first hole, then pared the stubborn second hole, a par three, before picking a shot on the par four third hole.

He pared the fourth hole, a par five, then picked a birdie on the par three fifth, before paring par four sixth and played a bogey on the par five seventh hole. He then pared holes eight and nine.

In the second nine, he dropped a shot on the par three 11th hole, but recovered with a birdie on the par five 18th hole after he had pared all the other holes.

“Hole two has been causing problems for me in the entire tournament and I am happy today I managed to conquer it. I was on with a single shot and putted twice. Hole 11 is the one that threatened to spoil my day as I hooked to the fence and had to go over a bunker to the green, it could have been worse,” said Odhiambo.

He added: “I am happy with the win and want to carry the same form to the Kenya Open next week. My swing is good and my short game cannot be as better.”

Dismas Indiza of Mumias tied with Nakuru’s Richard Ainley in the second position on one under par 283. Ainley made a late come back in the competition with a four under par score in yesterday’s round, on a day that Indiza played one under. They each pocketed Sh125, 000.

Muthaiga’s Brian Njoroge was fourth on one over par 285 and in the process earned Sh90, 000, while Thika’s Simon Ngige was fifth on two over par 286 to pocket Sh75, 000. officielairmaxpascher officielairmaxpascher
