A large field of 152 players will be action for the fourth leg of the on going Barclays Golf Circuit to be played at the par 72 nine hole Machakos Golf Club tomorrow.

The round which will bring together players from the host club and Moi Airbase Golf Club is expected to be mouth watering since only five slots will be up for grabs for the tournament’s grand finale to be held at Karen Club in February.

According to the club captain Charles Nzuki, holes seven and eight will prove to be quite a nut especially for the guest golfers and thus everyone should brace themselves for a long golfing day.

The course situated in the heart of Machakos is known for its indigenous grass filled fairways dominated by more ‘browns’ than ‘greens’.

Although the course has been prepared well for the circuit, the greens are likely to be fast due to the weather, Nzuki explained, however we have put everything in place to ensure that both our members and the visiting golfers have a savanna golfing experience.

Course administrator Jason Mulwa said the winds are currently calm and the greens are a bit slow.

With the qualifying rounds coming thick and fast, twenty players have already booked their tickets to the ultimate Barclays Kenya Open slated for February next year.

According to Barclays Kenya Managing Director Jeremy Awori, the tourney aims at supporting the development of the game of golf in Kenya, as well as raising funds that go towards supporting charitable initiatives that enhance the livelihoods of communities through financial literacy, enterprise skills and life skills.

A total of 25 clubs will be participating in the countrywide tourney with fifteen of them hosting the circuit rounds. So far, Limuru ,Eldoret and Nakuru Clubs have hosted the first, secondand third rounds respectively.

Greg Snow prepares to putt at a past event.

By FIDEL ONO

Muthaiga’s Greg Snow will be flying to Dubai on Thursday for his final preparations ahead of his MeNa Tour action in Dubai.

“I want to spend the remaining days to polish my game and I will be having my practice sessions at the Dubai creek,” said Snow.

He added: “My game is currently alright, there is a lot of improvement, I just need to put a bit more work into it before the first event gets under way. I need a bit of fine tuning and I should be good to go.”

Snow who pulled out of the KCB Golf Tour Grand Finale last month at Leisure Lodge Golf Club to prepare for the Tour that has a lucrative prize money of Sh4.3 million (50, 000 dollars) in every event with the eventual tour champions pocketing an extra Sh6.5million (75, 000 dollars).

“I had a busy schedule and as much as I could have liked to play at the grand PGK finale in Leisure I couldn’t because I was focusing on the MeNa Tour starting in Dubai, then Qatar, Oman and Abu Dhabi all from September 22 to November 13,” said Snow who has been practicing at the London Club.

He played in the MeNa Tour in Morocco earlier this year and also took part in the German Swiss Challenge Tour.

In Morocco, Snow tied third then tied fourth in the second event to currently secure the fifth position in the Order of Merit of the tour. He, however, missed the cut in the Challenge Tour.

“The top three players in the MeNa tour competition qualify to play in the Qatar Open, Abu Dhabi Championships, Dubai Desert Classic, King Hassan Trophy and all European tour events and that is my target. I know I can make it I am only two positions short at the moment,” the Muthaiga pro said. air max 90 pas cher air max 90 pas cher
