Over 200 golfers- including guest players and members- will converge on Kiambu Golf Club this Saturday as the ninth round of the Kenya Airways Golf Safari resumes.

The tournament which is being played both locally and internationally took a fortnight lull to pave way for Christmas and New Year festivity.

The local series which started at Railways Nairobi on November 1 has also been to Limuru, Windsor, Nyeri, Nyali, Eldoret, Nyanza and Thika. The Vet Lab Sports Club round initially set for last weekend has been rescheduled to a later date in March.

And with 6 tournaments on both calendars remaining to the Grand Final at Windsor on March 26, stakes are high for all and sundry in Kiambu where Governor William Kabogo is anticipated to play.

The overall winner at the nine hole Kiambu course walks away with two return tickets to visit any KQ destination within the African continent.

What’s more, three players- overall, men’s and ladies’ winners qualify for the Grand Finale and this applies to players on both the international and national tournaments.

Meanwhile, the seventh leg of the international KQ Golf Safari also resumes in Kampala’s Uganda Golf Club on January 17.

The international schedule going round KQ destinations has thus far seen golfers from around the globe fight it out for Grand Finale slots at Tema Club in Ghana, Royal Harare GC, Hong Kong’s Shek O club, Guangzhou’s Dragon Lake GC, Gymkhana in Tanzania, the IBB Abuja club and Ikoyi GC in Lagos graced by Kenyan Ambassador to Nigeria Tom Amollo.

Across our borders, it will visit Uganda Golf Club in Kampala on the January 17, the Riverdale CC in Thailand the week after and the Reef Golf Club in Seychelles on January 31. Pecanwood Golf Club in SA and Lusaka Golf Club will wind up the tour of Africa.

The Kenya Airways Golf Safari, through “KQ Holidays” is designed to promote Kenya as a top golf tourism destination. With more than 35 golf clubs across the country, reasonable green fees, a tourist friendly exchange rate, all-year-round golfing weather, adequate hotel bed space and regular flights to Europe and Asia, Kenya is poised to tap into the $2 billion a year golf tourism market.

After Kiambu Golf Club, the tournament visits Nakuru, Muthaiga, Sigona, Karen, Vet Lab and the Royal Nairobi Golf Club. air max 97 air max 97
