Mumias long-hitting Dismas Indiza romped back in awesome fashion on penultimate day of the 2015 KCB Golf Tour to share the lead with Nakuru’s Richard Ainley as drama ensured at the par 72 Royal Nairobi Golf Club.
Ainley, who went to bed with a massive 6 shot lead on Wednesday, was left to rue an excruciating round of 3 over par 75 which saw Indiza catch up with him on a total of 5 under par 211 on Thursday.
“I played 3 over today which wasn’t good at all. I need to first of all find out who bewitched me today. It was a very rough day for me and I must admit luck wasn’t on my side. Its one of those days that everything wrong happens and you have no choice,” said Ainley who in 2002 played alongside legendary Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh in the Buick Open in Detroit.

Bryan Njoroge was the biggest mover on Day 3. Indiza and Njoroge of Vet Lab won round 3 jointly with an impressive round of 3 under par 72.
Njoroge’s good show in round 3 saw him move up from eighth to joint third with Greg Snow.
Snow who is an international player has had to play second fiddle to Ainley who has led from the start on Tuesday.
Snow and Njoroge are lying joint third with a total of 1 under par 215 at penultimate stage. Snow played level par today and is 4 shots behind the leaders.
Indiza was all smiles and promised to remain focused on the last round on Friday.
“I know it will be a dramatic day in the final round and the trick is to avoid unnecessary errors,” said Indiza who Kenya Commercial Bank sponsored to the recent Sunshine Tour in George’s Dimensional Data ProAm and the prestigious Jo’Burg which along with David Wakhu and CJ Wangai fell in pre-qualifying stage.
Today’s event was being used as a yardstick to aceratin the last four slots for Kenya Open.
Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) had selected an initial list of 23 golfers with four -Stuart Cohen, J. Karanja, Boniface Simwa and Frank Matilo -filling the remaining slots today. Ainley dropped shots on the first three holes and again on holes 5 and 14.
“Dropping five shots was a disaster,” said Ainley who parred 11 holes and managed only two birdies on holes 7 and 16.
Indiza, on the other hand was breathing fire. He sunk in birdies on holes 3, 4, 7, 11 and 15.
Ainley said he has no choice but to attack in today’s final round.
“I will attack everything on Friday and I mean what I’m saying,” said Ainley.
Thika Sports Club’s Simon Ngige was the biggest loser yesterday after he dipped from position 2 to 11.
Like Ainly, the Thika man was left to rue a day replete with jinx.
“I just lost concentration on the greens from the word go. Some the the 3 puts I made on the greens were very disgusting. My swing was good but Friday is another day,” said Ngige.

Left handed pro Richard Ainley extended his lead by six shots on day two of the KCB Golf Tour as 14 professionals made the cut for the remaining two rounds at the par 72 Royal Nairobi Golf Club.
After two rounds of brilliant display, Ainley leads the pack with an impressive 8 under par 136.
Ainley was all smiles after day 2 action which saw pros contend with scorching sunny conditions: “Its been a good two rounds for me. Playing 67 on Tuesday and 69 today makes me feel happy by my general performance. My score today means that I will play under little pressure on the last two rounds,” said Ainley.
Long-hitter Dismas Indiza shot a similar round of 71 on day two to settle for joint second place with Thika Sports Club’s Simon Ngige on 2 under par 142.
Ngige who shot two under on Tuesday was left to rue the two boogies he collected on the last two holes with a level par round on day 2.
“I had some very bad chips on hole 8 and of course the boogies I picked on holes 17 and 18 messed me up. Generally its not that bad as we have two more days of play to lower the score,” said Ngige.
After playing two under Tuesday, Royal’s Greg Snow played one over par 73 in round two for a total of 1 under par 143. Snow is lying fourth.
“I’m happy that we professionals are putting up some good preps ahead of the Kenya Open. I think the number of tournaments we are playing will help us do well,” said Snow.
Ainley started off on a modest note with eight pars and 1 burdie on the first nine for a total of 36. It was indeed in the second nine that Ainley showed what stuff he is made of.
The Nakuru man sunk in a total of 4 birdies on holes 11, 14, 15 and 17 top return a score of 33 in the second 9. It could have gone even lower for Ainley had he not dropped a shot in hole 13.
Boniface Simwa who was lying second on Day 1 with 4 under got a rude shock with an excruciating round of 5 over par 77 for a total of 143.
Play resumes at 8am on Thursday.
The first groups at the first and 10th tee begins at 8am.
The KCB Golf Tour 2015 heads to Thika sports club on Aprill 14-17. May 14-16 takes the event to Nyanza Golf Club while July 2-4 will see golfers head to Nakuru Golf Club. The grand finale will be atNyali Golf Club on August 5-8.
