Jose-Filipe Lima from Portugal & his amateur counterpart Paul Kamau won Coca-Cola sponsored PRO-AM with a score of 14-under 58 at the Karen Country Club on Tuesday.
For the success, Lima earned 600 Euros (approximately Sh60, 233) for victory in the first PRO-AM, which will inspire him ahead of the European Challenge Tour Opener that commences on Thursday.
The winning pair was five shots ahead of the second placed England’s Charlie Ford and amateur W.N.Ngaruiya who had a combined score of nine under. Sean Einhaus from Germany & George Makori and Welshman Phillip Price & Moses Karanu who had a back-nine score of 33 carded nine-under apiece to finish third and fourth on count back.

The field also had 11 locals pros including Greg Snow and Dismas Indiza who finished on -3 under.

“Kenyans can do well in the competition. We expect a good event. I have been to South Africa courtesy of KCB and Mumias and played golf for a full month,” said Dismas Indiza about the prospects for Kenyans at this year’s Open.

The format for the Pro-am changed this year where for the first time two pros played in one match with two amateurs unlike in the past where one pro played with two amateurs.

The Open which is the longest running event in the ETC becomes the first event of the 2015 tour due to the cancellation of the Madeira Islands Open which is held in Portugal. air max 95 air max 95

The KCB Group has sponsored four professional golfers of Kenya to the forth-coming Kenya Open tournament to be played from 8th to 12th April at the Karen Golf club.

The Four Pros include John Wangai who is the Professional Golfers of Kenya captain and resident Pro at Sigona Golf club, David Wakhu resident Pro Royal Nairobi, Brian Njoroge resident Pro Vet lab and David Odhiambo resident Pro Nyanza Golf club.

While handing over a Cheque of KES 600,000 at the Bank’s headquarters in Kencom, KCB Head of Corporate and Regulatory affairs Judith Sidi Odhiambo applauded the four golfers for playing well in last year’s KCB Pro-Am series and making the cut to this year’s Kenya open through KCB sponsorship. The sponsorship will cater for the Pros caddies fee, tournament registration and up keep during the duration of the Kenya open tournament.

“KCB Group is pleased to continue its support of the Professional Golfers of Kenya, we look forward to a very engaging Kenya open tournament that gives our professionals the international exposure they require” she said.

22 Professional golfers who made the cut to the Kenya open tournament through the KCB sponsored Pro-Am tour played last year will represent Kenya.

Speaking during the event PGK captain John Wangai said that the Pros are well prepared to tackle the Karen fairways and they have been practicing through out the month.

“We have been playing at Karen and in our home clubs and we are ready to take up the challenge that Kenya open will bring,” Said Wangai. cheap air max 2017 cheap air max 2017
