The nine-hole Eldoret Golf Club will this weekend host the 15th event on the Dasani Golf Series; in attendance will be members from the host club, Eldoret Golf Club, Kitale Club and Nandi Bears golfers.

Hosted by the Rift Valley Bottlers, this event will give one team, of four golfers, the opportunity to participate in the Dasani Golf Gala Grand Finale to be held on the 27th of August 2011 at the Karen Country Club.

According to the Eldoret Golf Club Captain Joseph Waweru, the club has been experiencing heavy rains in the past weeks but this is not a cause for alarm as the course is manageable even in such harsh conditions.

“Our course is designed in such a way that it does not easily flood. The water is controlled and golfers should expect to have an exciting time,” Waweru said. “River Sosian brings in water from the highlands and since it meanders through the golf club, cutting across several holes, it is both a source of great beauty but also a source for concern in extremely wet and rainy conditions.”

With over 120 golfers registered to participate, competition is expected to be fierce.

The team to watch will be the 2010 Dasani Golf Gala Champions, the team of Willy Samoei, Michael Rotich, Ahmed Ferej and Tim Alala, all of Eldoret Golf Club.

It is this team that eventually represented Kenya at the Gary Player Invitational, presented by Coca-Cola at the Fancourt Golf Resort in George, South Africa. To make it to Atlanta, Georgia as the 2011 Champions, the Samoei, Rotich, Ferej and Alala team will have to dig deep at the qualification round at Eldoret and then brave the tough conditions expected at the Karen Country Club during the Grand Finale.

Captain Waweru will be leading the team of Kamau Watunu, Geoffrey Kitiwa and George Njoroge.

“We call ourselves the Dream Team and we believe we are in very good shape to take the Dasani champions title from Samoei’s team, “says Waweru. “As the representatives of Rift Valley Bottlers, we will do our best to ensure that we make it two wins in a row.”

The first team is expected to tee off at 8am to finish at slightly after 10.30am while the afternoon session will begin a little after 11am and end at 5.30pm.

After Eldoret, the Dasani Golf Gala will visit Nyanza Club and then Kisii Club on the same weekend before culminating at the Grand Finale at Karen. The 2011 Dasani Golf Gala Champions will win a VIP trip to the TOUR Championship, presented by Coca-Cola, the last event on the US PGA Tour and due to be held at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. canada goose outlet canada goose outlet
