MWENJA EMERGES VICTORIOUS AT SAFARICOM EVENT IN THIKA

Anthony Mwenja demonstratedstupendous form when he fired 41 stable ford points to gain victory in the fourth leg of the Safaricom Business Golf Challenge staged at Thika Golf Clubover the weekend. Playing off handicap 16, Mwenja combined 19 and a fantastic 22 points at the outward and inward nines respectively for a
total of 41 points beating a large field of 184 golfers. This result attained him not only thewinner’s trophy but a fully paid trip to play in the grand final at VipingoRidge, Mombasa, on 28th April 2012.

“ The course was playing well and I had an easy time. The atmosphere within the Safaricom sponsored event
was great and that is how I managed to thrive,” said an over joyed Mwenja while making his winner’s speech. At the front nine, Mwenja dropped a shot on hole 1,sunk an early birdie at the par 4 hole 2, bogeyed the next two holes but recovered with three consecutive pars on the fifth, sixth and seventh.
Disaster struck at hole eight where he blanked and dropped two shots on hole nine. Atthe rear nine he only dropped only four shots on the first three holes but pared the rest to the finish. Mwenja beat Thika Golf Club Chairman James Mbuguato second position on count back to both qualify for a fully paid trip to compete in the grand finals. Handicap 17, Mbugua also beat Dorcas Njogu on count back who in turn also beat Dr J Karienye on count back both taking third and fourth positions respectively. John Mwangi Thairu playing off handicap
12, returned 22 and 19 points for a total of 41 points to take home the fifth position prize while Henry Kanyua won the staff prize. Japheth Kagondu playing off handicap 28, managed 19 points at both nines for a total of 38
points to emerge the guest winner. As expected long-hitter and handicap 5 Edwin Kiarie took home the longest drive men prize while Pauline Nderi hit the longest amongst the ladies to take the trophy. Jonathan Mungai and handicap 4 Chris Andrea won the nearest to pin and best junior prizes respectively. In the caddie’s competition, James Mbiyu playing off handicap 16 won himself a phone and Sh5,000 Safaricom airtime after collecting 71 nett points. John Ngugi received the best effort prize after he managed 12 points. Evans Nyagah the Safaricom Head of Sales and Retention- Enterprise Business Unit graced the occasion and presented the array of prizes at the colorful prize giving ceremony. NDUNDA CARRIES THE DAY AT NIC BANK GOLF SERIES IN NAKURU

Jackson Ndunda fired an impressive 40 stable-ford points to emerge the day’s best golfer at the NIC Bank Golf Series that took place at the Nakuru Golf Club Saturday.

Ndunda, the Chairman of the Machakos Country Club scored 19 points on the front nine and 21 points on the back nine for a total of 40 points shaking off stiff competition from Nakuru golfers who dominated the game. “I’m absolutely excited about my score. I was in top shape and I felt very confident about winning!,” said the handicap 17 golfer.

Handicap 16 golfer Samuel Muna Njenga scored 38 stable-ford points to settle for second place while third place went to Samson Birir with 38 points.

Nakuru lady golfer Josephine Kaime, possibly Ndunda’s greatest competition in that tournament, did the ladies proud after scoring 39 stable-ford points to emerge the day’s best in the women’s category. The handicap 10 golfer managed 19 points on the first nine and 20 points on the second nine to emerge second place overall. Meanwhile, Rose Kibuku playing off handicap 26 came in second with 20 points on the first nine and 18 points on the second nine for a cumulative 38 points on the stable-ford.

The first nine had Mirriam Wanjiku as favorite with 19 stable-ford points while the second nine was dominated by Esther Karuga of handicap 16.

“This is definitely one of the best challenges so far and I was impressed by the turnout and the performance of the Nakuru golfers. Despite the rains, the golfers remained upbeat and in the end it was a success,” said Karinga Wambugu, Captain Nakuru Golf Club. The golfers from Nakuru put up an excellent game taking majority of the top spots.

In the guest category handicap 26 golfer Eric Kabera emerged best with 37 stable-ford points, a clear 10-point gap from Lawrence Ng’ang’a who came in second with 27 stable-ford points.

The NIC Bank Golf Series comprises golf tournaments countrywide golf in a bid to familiarize potential cutomers with the bank’s newest offerings such as asset finance. Kiambu Golf Club is next in line to host the NIC Bank Golf series on September 30, 2011. canada goose männer canada goose männer
