Mumias Resident professional Dismas Indiza was in imperious form as he won the second round of the KCB Advantage Banking Tour culminated at the par 70 Nyanza Golf Club yesterday.

This was without a doubt Indiza’s best performance this year and by extension second win of the season following the emphatic victory he registered at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club in February.

But the soft spoken golfer was left to rue sodden course conditions which he described as “exceedingly challenging”.

Indiza shot an impressive 11 under par 199 after playing rounds of 64, 68 and 69 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday respectively.

Simon Ngige wrapped up the Nyanza tour on a satisfactory 7 under par 203. And trailing Indiza by four shots wasn’t that bad for Ngige who failed to make good his penultimate day threats of eclipsing the Day 2 five shot deficit at the hands of Indiza.

Indiza and Ngige have fought scintillating cliffhangers this season and the most exhilarating of them all being the Royal Nairobi tussle with which the former vanquished the latter in the play-off round.

In the final round yesterday, Indiza shot 35 in the first nine and a similar score in the second nine. The Mumias man parred on the first two holes and went on to drop a shot in the third hole. He collected a birdie in holes five and nine.

“The plan this year has been to keep it trim and consistent. I have made sure that I kept myself busy throughout the year after missing the cut at the Kenya Open. After heavy downpour on Saturday, soggy conditions made play even more challenging,” said Indiza

Last year’s winner of the PGK Order of Merit Nicholas Rokoine was impressive on the third and final day yesterday. The Muthaiga professional shot a total of 4 under par 206 to settle for third overall.
