According to KGU, The team was selected based on the current Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) ranking.

Head coach Liefland said the players are in high spirits and has exuded confidence of Kenya putting up a great show in one of the most prestigious tournament in Africa.

Kenya joins twelve other countries from Africa that will be battling out for the coveted trophy in the five-day event.

Other countries that will be participating include Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Uganda.

In the meantime, there were changes that were a raft of changes introduced in the tournament last year on the format of play with the event being exclusively for the Region 5 countries.

However, Kenya, Mauritius and Uganda from non-region 5 have been invited and will field a team of four players each.

Each member of Region 5 is eligible to front two teams of four-balls while Mauritius, Uganda and Kenya will field only one team each.
