International player Kenneth Bollo braved a wet course at the par 73 Kitale Golf Club to emerge the winner of this year’s Trans Nzoia Chapionships at the weekend.

The win means that Bollo, a member of Royal Nairobi Golf Club have won five out of six Golfer Of The Year events this season and puts him a very strong position of winning the coveted title for the first time in his career.

He beat Limuru’s Paul Muchangi on a three-holes play-off after they had tied on a score of 227 after three rounds. In the tensed play-offs, Bollo sunk a birdie on hole 10 as Muchangi managed a par, while on hole 17 Bollo played a par and Muchangi bogeyed, then they both scored pars on hole 18 for the contest to be settled.

In the first round, Bollo playing off handicap +1 had a score of 77, then posted 80 in the second round before carding an impressive 70 in the final round round, while Muchangi had 74 in the first round, 76 in the second round and 77 in the third and final round.

David Saikwa was third on 233 (78, 78, 77), while Phillip Shiharsy finished fourth on 234 (79, 77, 78) and Vet Lab’s Edwin Mudanyi who won the last Winstone Churchil in Thika recently settled for the fifth spot on 235 (79, 77, 79).

“The rain was heavy and the condition of the course was not friendly, however, I am happy that I still managed to recover from first two rounds poor performance and win the tournament. Now I’m shifting my focus to the Victoria Cup and Kenya Amateur Matchplay Championships to be held at Muthaiga and Sigona respectively,” said Bollo. air max 95 air max 95
