TUSKER MALT BECOMES KENYA OPEN’S OFFICIAL BEER PARTNER, GIVES ORGANISERS SH4 MILLION

The 2016 edition of the Kenya Open Golf Championship has today received a Kshs 4 million sponsorship boost from Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) as part of a partnership deal that will see KBL’s premium beer brand become the official alcoholic beverages for the event.

Speaking at a cheque hand over event held at the brewer’s headquarters in Ruaraka, KBL Marketing Director, Mr. John Williams, said the partnership with Kenya Open Golf Championship is important for Tusker Malt Lager and KBL as it is one of Kenya’s top sporting events with a large local, regional and global reach.

The Kenya Open, the Kenya Open Golf Ltd and the Kenya Golf Union meet our stringent criterion for sponsorship, and the championship through this event is a perfect fit for Tusker Malt Lager whose strategy is to connect with our premium consumers,” said Mr.Williams

Tusker has been associated with the Kenya Open tournament since the late 1980’s, when the event was part of the Safari Tour. From 1998 to 2001 – a total of four years – Tusker was the title sponsor of the Kenya Open and again for five years from 2005 to 2009.

From 2010 to date, Tusker Malt Lager has been the Kenya Open official alcoholic beverage partner, delivering great refreshment moments to golfing fans in a way that only the best, most premium Malt Lager can.

Speaking at the same event, Kenya Open Golf LTD Director, Dr. SR Ndegwa, expressed delight at having Tusker on board for the 48th edition of the Kenya Open Golf Tournament. He also stated that this year’s tournament is set to offer a lot of exciting and fun activities for spectators.

Dr. SR Ndegwa said that the tournament has established itself as a competitive, fun and engaging activity for both players and spectators, attracting a new and younger audience each year.

Our ambition as organizers of this tournament is to attract new and younger audiences- that is why we are always looking at new ways to innovate around our flagship events. We would like to make golf a game for everyone in Kenya,” he said.

The 48th Edition of the Kenya Open Tournament will take place on 17th-20th March at the Karen Golf Club. This year, the tournament has attracted a total of 156 participants- of these22 are local players; 11 are from other African countries; 117 are international participants and 6 amateurs; 4 from Kenya, 1 Ugandan and 1 from France. charmsuksale2018 charmsuksale2018
