MUTHAIGA TO HOST 54-HOLE KENYA AT 50 GOLF FESTIVAL

Toyota Kenya Limited (TKEN) announced today that, as part of “Celebrating 50 years of service in Kenya”, the company will sponsor the Kenya at 50 Golf Festival at Muthaiga Golf Club from Thursday, 12 to Saturday, 14 December 2013.
The 54-holes stableford competition will be open to all golfers and the entry fee is Shs 5,000/- per person payable in advance. The golf festival is endorsed by the Kenya Golf Union.
Speaking at the launch of the event, Muthaiga Golf Club Chairman, Edwin Kinyua said “Muthaiga Golf Club is proud to host this historical event and is delighted that Toyota Kenya have accepted to be our main sponsor, to share a double celebration of their fifty years, and that of Kenya’s independence.
In reply, Toyota Kenya’s Managing Director, Sachio Yotsukura, who was accompanied by chairman, Ambassador Dennis Awori said “Toyota intends to “To be most respectable company by People, Society, Industry and Government in Kenya and while contributing devotedly to the development of Kenya by providing comprehensive automotive service.
“TKEN consistently & persistently aims to Improve on Management Quality & Operation Quality in all the its areas of operation across all the TKEN’s brands namely Toyota, Hino & Yamaha TKEN. This will be represented in the golf test of endurance in the 3 day tournament at the lovely Muthaiga Golf Club .”

The Golf Festival will be a showcase of Kenyan golf. Players will play 18 holes per day, over the three days and the best 50 holes will count towards the overall prize. All registered players must play 54 holes, and entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
There will be two divisions, according to handicap for both men and women. Handicap 0-14 and 15 and over for men, whilst the women will play in the Silver and Bronze divisions. The expected field size will be 200.
Prizes will be awarded to the Overall winner, division winner – both men and women up to third place; Best 18 for both men and women, gross winner for men and women, as well as nearest the pin and longest drive for each of the three days.
Aside from the golf, the festival includes a Welcome Cocktail Party on Thursday 12 December, followed by a unique inter-golf club Koroga Challenge on Friday 13th December. The festival will conclude with a Gala Dinner, Dance and Prizegiving on Saturday 14th December.
Muthaiga Golf Club, the home of golf in Kenya, hosts the Kenya Golf Union, Junior Golf Foundation and Golf Talent Foundation offices. Started in 1927, it was once part of the Muthaiga Country Club that is celebrating their centenary this year.
