OPATI TAKES EARLY LEAD AT LIMURU OPEN
By JAMES WAINDI
Golf Park’s David Opati made true his threats of bouncing back at the Limuru Open, one of the legs of the Golfer of the year series, by claiming a comfortable overnight lead at the par 72 golf course.
Opati playing off handicap +3 posted a score of 69 to set the pace in the prestigious tournament, beating his closest competitor E Oook and Simon Mwangi by a clear four shots.
Tony Omuli who won the last Goty tournament, the Kenya Matchplay at Windsor last month, found himself placed in an awkward 11th tied spot together with Vet Lab’s Robinson Owiti on a score of 77.
National team captain and home player who was earlier favored on paper to take advantage of his home course and reign supreme, finished the first day placed fourth on a score of 74.
The tournament continues on Saturday. air max 97 air max 97
