Suryo Diyono fired an impressive 40 stable-ford points to emerge the overall Men Winner at the NIC Bank Golf Series second leg held at the par 71 Limuru Country Club at the weekend.

The tournament attracted a large field of over 200 amateur golfers who converged at the 18-hole course to battle it out for top place.

Suryo playing off handicap 15 posted identical 20 points on each nine respectively for a total of 40 stable ford points to claim victory. He bogeyed on the first four holes, before making some par saves on holes five, seven, eight and nine.

He, however, dropped a shot on par-four 6th on the front nine.

Three more pars followed on holes 10th, 16th and 18th on the back nine, now high on the sound of victory, stumbled on the tough par-four 13th, managing only a double bogey and again on 12th, 14th, 15th and 17th securing bogeys.

A birdie on hole Eleven was all he needed for a well deserved victory.

Coming in second was Yassin Awale who managed 39 points total after managing 19 on the front nine and 20 points on the second nine.

Third place went to Njehia Mwangi, a handicap 14 player who posted 38 points.

Lady golfer Rose Gitau was the lady winner. Rose, a handicap-12 golfer scored 21 points on the opening nine and 20 on the back nine for a total of 41points while the Lady runner up was claimed by handicap-15, Noni Muhire who played 20 on both nines for 40 points.

Steve Wairia from the Sigona Golf Club finished with an excellent 38 points claiming the Guest Winners prize; David Kiambi from NIC Bank Playing off Handicap-14 was the staff Winner with 33 points.

Congratulating the winners, NIC Bank business Banking Director, James Wainaina said he was encouraged by both the condition of the golf course and the level of performance. He said that NIC was committed to supporting sports across East Africa.

NIC Bank now operates across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and consequently we have designed this golf series to mirror our current market,” Wainaina said.

The host clubs in Kenya will include the Nyanza Club in Kisumu City, which will also play host to golfers from Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii and Mumias, the 

Nakuru Golf Club who will host golfers from Nanyuki and Njoro, the Thika Sports Club, who will host golfers from Ruiru, Makuyu, Nyeri and Nanyuki, the Mombasa Golf Club which will host members of the Coastal golf clubs, Eldoret Golf Club which will play host to Nandi Bears and Kitale Club, the challenging Sigona Golf Club, Kiambu Golf Club and the Kenya Railway Golf Club.
