NDIHO, GIATHI TEAM UP TO WIN TUSKER MALT CARNIVAL AT LIMURU

The team of Kang’ethe Ndiho and Peter Giathi are the winners of the seventh leg of the Tusker Malt Golf Carnival held at the 18-hole par-71 Limuru Golf Club over the weekend.
Playing off handicap 18 and 21 respectively, Ndiho and Giathi posted 23 points in the first nine and 24 points in the second nine for a team total of 47 points, in a tournament that attracted close to 200 golfers.
Coming in second was the team of Fred Kariuki and Njuguna Thaka who managed 46 points total after managing an unchanged score of 23 in both nines. Third place went to Sam Muraya and Robert Barua who posted 45 points. Handicap 13 Muraya and handicap 13 Barua posted 22 points on the front nine and 23 points on the back nine.
Losing on countback and settling for fourth place was the team of Kirumba Mukuria and Daniel Kimemia. Mukuria of handicap 22 and Kimemia of handicap 16 posted 22 points on the first nine and 23 points on the second nine for a team score of 45. They however, could not edge out the team of Muraya and Barua.
Fifth place was claimed by the team of handicap 14 Onyancha Bw’omote and handicap 16 David Mwindi. Bw’omote and Mwindi played 23 and 22 for 45, losing on countbabck to Mukuria and Kimemia.
The guest prize was scooped by handicap 29 lady golfer Teressa Mwangi and handicap 17 Simon Mwaura who scored 20 points in the front nine and 23 points in the back nine for a team score of 43 points.
The tournament at Limuru Golf Club wraps up the 2011 calendar making way for the 2012 action to kick off at Muthaiga Golf Club on January 21. The carnival has been to several other clubs including the Kenya Railway, Machakos, Njoro, Kiambu, Eldoret and Nyanza golf clubs.
The carnival is scheduled to visit 30 golf clubs and engage some 10, 000 golfers from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda in a regional tour aimed at promoting bonding and friendship, the brand value of Tusker Malt.
