NGUGI TOPS AFTER THIRD ROUND AT THE KCB REGIONAL TOUR GRAND FINALE AT NYALI

Ngugi Njuguna’s agility and consistency to return low scores paid off on day three after he rolled four birdies for 1 under par 70 to lead the 2011 KCB East Africa Classic finals at Nyali Golf Club. Ngugi now leads the regional elite golfers with only one shot after playing one over par 214 made of 73, 71 and 70. He begun the outward ninewith a superb birdie on the par five, pared the next before dropping a sot eachon hole three and four but recouped with a birdie on hole five. He then pared the rest. At the inward nine he sustained his form only dropping a shot on the par three hole eighteen. However he fired birdies on the eleventh and seventeenth. Thika’s Simon Ngige follows in hot pursuit after he cavorted home with level par 71 for a cumulative total of 2 over par 215 made of 70, 74, and71. Ngige only dropped two shots on the entire course and carded two birdies to propel his score to level par 71 in the event that saw only 27 golfers make thecut. Day two joint leaders Greg Snow and Anil Shah failed to maintain the lead after both recorded 3 over par 73 on day three dropping to the third position.Greg hit a disastrous bogey on the par four, stroke index one hole four after he lost his ball in the bush and this cost him the much-needed strokes. Despite Anil’s impressive start of level par 36 at the front nine, he bogeyed the tenthand double bogeyed the sixteenth at the back nine for 3 over par 38. Day one joint leader Riz Charania came fifth with a total of 4 over par 217 to beat Uganda’s Deo Akope with a clear two points. Brian Njoroge hit seven impressive birdies to return the best score of the day of 3 under par 69. This outstanding score propelled him to the sixth position with seven over par 220. The battle for supremacy in the regional elite event continues today with armatures joining the pros with the first tee off at 7am in the morning.  KCB Group CEO Dr. Martin Oduor-Otieno willgrace the event and present the winners with cash rewards. The prize fund kittyfor the winners is 3 million.
