Despite light showers, going to the course yesterday morning had a lot of promises. With Greg Snow in the lead, it was clear that the promising youngster meant nothing but business when he upheld his lead on day three (Friday) after he yielded 4 under par 68 for cumulative total of 9 under par 207 in the on-going KCB Rwanda Open.

Greg, who is now well acquainted with the Kigali Golf Club showed great resilience when he sunk birdies on the second, fourth, and seventh to ninth to produce 5 under par 30 on the inward nine. However, at the inward nine he dropped two shots each at holes thirteen and eighteenth but recovered well with birdies on the twelfth and fifteenth to round up 1 over par 38 for a total of 4 under par 68.

Adrenaline was high between his compatriot Dismas Indiza after he fired five birdies to profit 3 under par 69 and a collective total of 6 under par 210 rising from third position on day two to second position in the fifth round of the KCB East African Golf Tour. Day one leader Ali Kimani was relegated to third position after his putting failed him leading him to finish at level par and a three -day total of 4 under par 212. The stage is now set for a stiff challenge on the last day after Nakuru’s left-hander Richard Ainley sunk seven birdies to reap the best score of the day of 5 under par 67 and a total of 1 under 215 to secure himself a joint-fourth position on the leader board with Rwanda’s Emmanuel Ruterana. South Africa based Anil Shah who has been very consistent with 73,73 and 71 for a total of 1 over 217 romped home on sixth position while Brian Njoroge came seventh with 2 over par 218. Rwanda’s John Baptiste also resisted the tough challenge to fly the Rwandan flag at position eight on the leader board.

Today, during the final round, the professionals from the region will be joined by armatures in the final round of the KCB Rwanda Open staged at the scenic and only golf course in Kigali, Rwanda.

Meanwhile, in a rare gesture of social responsibility, the elite golfers joined KCB Bank Rwanda staff in visiting patients and donating over 800,000 Rwanda francs to Kibagabaga Hospital (Government Hospital). The funds will be used to purchase medical supplies and assist the government to help pay medical bills for the poor.
