Heavy rains, misfiring dream teams, broken hearts; that was the story of the Dasani Golf Gala at Eldoret. In the second time in as many years, the Eldoret rain was determined to water down the Dasani Golf Gala qualification event involving members from Kitale Club, Nandi Bears and hosts Eldoret. Ultimately, the winners were decided on the score of the first nine.
The Nandi Bears team of Wycliffe Kamanga, John Anyonyi, Abraham Maichi and Maurice Wanjea finished tops with a combined team score of 55 points.
Kamanga, a 17-handicap golfer anchored the victorious team with 20 points. Anyonyi, a talented 4-handicap golfer, dropped only two-strokes through the opening nine, returning 18 points. Both Maichi and Wanjea, handicaps nineand eight respectively finished with 17 points. With this victory, the Nandi Bears team will now represent the Rift Valley Bottlers at the Dasani Golf Gala Grand Finale to be held at the Karen Country Club on the 27th of August 2011.
The team of Ravi Shah, Neel Shah, Ajay Soni and Nawaz Nanji finished second with 54 points. Ravi,a handicap-12 golfer led the team with 20 points whilst Neel, handicap-17 contributed 18 points. Soni, a good handicap-8 golfer added 16 points to the team’s tally. Nanji, the club Vice Chairman, was the teams weakest link with only 14 points on what was a wet day for golf.
Parit Sanghrayka was the individual winner with an excellent 20 points off a handicap of 6. Unfortunately for Sanghrayka, his team mates did not come to the party and despite his good score, he failed to qualify for the Grand Finale. Ravi Shah was the individual runner up whilst Nilseh Aggarwal was third both on 20-points. James Chirchir was fourth with 19 points beating Kiran Shah on count back.

The overall winners of the 2010 Gala, the Eldoret team of Willie Samoei, Tim Alala, Ahmed Ferej and Wilson Rotich failed to qualify for the Grand Finale. The “Dream Team” as they were fondly referred to, got the worst of the weather and failed to score well. Speaking at the prize giving ceremony,
Samoei, advised the qualifyi g teams to practice hard in readiness for the Grand Finale. Speaking at the same ceremony! rift Valley Bottlers GM, Moses Mwirigi asked the Dream Team to grace the Finale as guests of Rift Valley Bottlers.
The Dasani Golf Gala now moves to the Nyanza Club and Kisii Club this weekend on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
The winning team in the 2011 Gala will win a VIP trip the TOUR Championship, presented by Coca-Cola, at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, the home of Coca-Cola. canada goose outlet canada goose outlet
