Thika’s Sullivan Muthugia took advantage of the absence of some key players to take an early lead at the KCB Golf Tour at the par 73 Nakuru Golf Club.

Muthugia who two weeks ago finished second at the annual Bujumbura Open, ensured his progress in the season when he notched a first round score of two under par 71 to carry a slight single shot lead to Friday’s second round.

Royal’s Charan Thethy who made a last minute withdrawal from the Zambia Open was second after the first round on one under par 72, while Order of Merit favourite Nicholas Rokoine of Muthaiga, home pro Richard Ainley and Vet Lab’s Ali Kimani tied in the third spot on one over par 74.

Simon Ngige who won the last leg at Royal was among the noticeable absentees at the tournament as he is featuring at the Nigeria Open together with Vet Lab’s Brian Njoroge. Royal’s Anil Shah is taking part at the Zambia Open. Both the international tournaments are taking part at the same time. nike air max hombre nike air max hombre

A large field of 204 players has been drawn to play at the fourth qualifier of the ongoing Dasani Golf Gala at the prestigious Windsor Golf and Country Club on Saturday.

Top action will be guaranteed at the event, given that out of the massive field, only eight players from two teams will qualify for the tournament’s Grand Finale slated for September 29 at the Karen Golf and Country Club.

The Windsor leg will bring together home players as well as Golf Park players and guests to battle for the limited slots available.

So far 24 players have already earned their tickets to the finale after the first three qualifiers held in Kiambu, Thika and Vet Lab and players will be eager to join the party through the Windsor leg, making it an action packed leg.

According to Riz Charania, Windsor’s resident professional who also doubles-up as the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) chairman, the course is in fantastic condition and has been playing longer than usual due to the recent rains and that scoring has been difficult of late.

“The staff have been working extremely hard to get the course into shape for the Dasani event, the greens are certainly in good shape,” said Charania.

Teams look very strong this year and the finale would certainly be mouth watering as it would probably bring together the best of the best. At Windsor, some of the players expected to spice-up the tournament include P K Mugambi, Mohammed Taib, J Karani and the ever contingent junior squad.

The grand prize this year will see the winning team of four players travel to Dubai to attend the Grand Finale of the European Tour, the DP World Tour Championships at the Jumeirah Golf Estates. While in Dubai, they will also have the opportunity to see Europe’s top 60 money earners on the 2012 Order of Merit battle it out for a 1.3 million winner’s cheque.

In addition, they will play at some of the best golf courses in the region, including the Dubai Creek Course and the challenging Faldo Course at the Emirates Golf Club, a course designed by former world number 1 and six-time major Champion Sir Nick Faldo. air max mujer air max mujer
