Seasoned lady golfer Maureen Wroe braved a wet course to emerge the overall winner of the Kengen Golf Day at the par 72 Sigona Golf Club at the weekend.

Wroe playing off handicap 21 posted a total of 42 points to carry the day. She played level par on the par five hole nine after dropping single shots in the previous holes, to finish the first nine on 20 stableford points.

In the second nine, she leveled par three hole 11, par three hole 14, par five 15^th and par four 16^th holes for a second nine impressive score of 22 to make a total of 42.

Paul Dhanani playing off handicap 12 settled for the runner-up position on 40 points. She started the first nine brightly with level pars on the par four second hole two, par three hole three and par five hole four, before sinking a birdie on the par three hole five and leveled par five ninth hole for a first nine score of 20 stableford points.

In the second nine, Dhanani leveled par five tenth hole, par four 12^th and par five 15^th, before playing back-to-back pars on the last two holes, par four 17^th and 18^th for a second nine score of 20 stableford points.

Handicap 23 Jagdeep Channa needed a second nine score of 20 stableford points to beat Neil Shah and Maysam Kimji on count back to finish third on 38 points (18, 20). Shah playing off handicap 10 was fourth on 38 points (19, 19) and Khimji playing off handicap five settled for fifth position on 38 points (19, 19).

Chetan Hindocha playing off handicap 12 won the first nine prize on 22 points, while the second nine honours went to handicap 12 Mwaura Kariuki on 19 points.

David Muthike playing off handicap `16 won the guest prize on 37 points (19, 18), with Kengen Managing Director Eddie Njoroge playing off handicap 10 settled for the staff runner-up position on 24 points (11, 13).

Handicap 17 Engineer Mwiti of Limuru Country Club was the tournament’s guest winner on 35 points (17, 18), while Royal’s Timothy Kuria playing off handicap 24 finished as the runner-up guest on 33 points (14, 19).

Wroe also won the nearest to the pin prize, and the longest drive prize went to Kabir Choda. huarache femme huarache femme

International player David Opati, plans to carry local form to this year’s East Africa Challenge Trophy in Burundi after he won the Manchester Salver event at the Eldoret Golf Club on Saturday.

Opati who was under pressure after having a lackluster performance in the last Golfer Of The Year tournament, the Karen Amateur Strokeplay Championship, recovered to comfortable win the Manchester Salver event, the second event in the Goty series that he has won this year. The first one he won was the Coast Open.

The Golf Park player, managed four under gross in the two day event, scoring 67 and 71 on both days to consolidate his position at the top of the table of standings with only two events to, the Uhuru Shield and the Nyali Open.

He was in high spirits ahead of the national team’s departure to Bujumbura where he will be captaining Kenya as they seek to retain the regional trophy that they won in Arusha last year.

“I currently playing very well and my team mates are also enjoying the golf of their lives , so the best thing to do is just to carry our local form to Bujumbura and we will easily retain the regional trophy. We still remain the team to beat in this region,” said Opati who currently plays off handicap +3.

The team comprising of Opati, Vet Lab’s duo of Nelson Simwa (+1) and Mathew Omondi (+1), Railway’s John Wangai (+2), Sigona’s Kush Mediratta (8) and Nyali’s Daniel Nduva, Mathew Wahome, Adel Balala and Abraham Abdullahi was expected to leave the country on Monday morning. maillot de foot pas cher maillot de foot pas cher
