Mombasa rookie Lyn Nicholls scored a sterling 41 stableford points to emerge the overall winner of this year’s Citi Bank Corporate golf tournament on Friday at the par 71 Nyali Golf Club and Country Club.

She braved daylong showers at the stableford tournament sponsored by the bank for its Coast province clients and attracted 100 golfers from the home club, Mombasa, Leisure, Vipingo, Malindi and clients of the Bank with valid handicaps.

The handicap 25 Nicholls victory came in the  inward nines after sinking a birdie on the  shortest par three-tenth hole and rolling  two level pars on the par three-fifteenth and again the last par three-eighteenth holes in addition to a mixed bag of dropped bogey shots on the rest of the holes for 20 points.

She had false start in the opening outward nines after unfortunately dropping a mixed bag of bogey shots on all the holes except the par five-first hole where she had a level par for 21 points.

‘I could not believe it’s my victory playing under the bad weather condition and even the balls could not hold in the greens,’ said Nicholls.

Handicap 21 Major General Anthony Rob scored 37points to claim the runners up slot while handicap 19 Abass Sheikh was third beating handicap 16 Aamin Dhanji to the fourth place on count back after both tied on the same points.

Rapthi De Silva playing off hnadicp 34 was the Lady winner on a score of 36 points and handicap 35 Sumali Jayasinghe was the runners up on three points behind.

Chairman of the Citibank Nick Kamere playing off handicap 17 was the Staff winner on a score of 33 points while his CEO in charge of East Africa, Daniel Connelly who is the title holder and playing off handicap 28, settled for the Men’s prize of nearest to the pin on the 18th hole.

The teams of Eddy Kiama, Daniel Nduva and Abass Sheikh  who had a combined  score of 36 points was the pink ball’s team winner and the team of ‘Stroke of Luck’ comprising Nick Munyi, Ben Mureithi, Kelli Muindi and Peter Miana were named the team with the best name.

The bank which is 40 years old in the country was marking part of its celebrations of 200 years in operation since it was started in New York City.

Citi bank’s Chief Executive Officer Daniel Connelly said the bank has been hosting special activities to commemorate two centuries in business and assured his company’s continued commitment to supporting the growth of the sport in the Country.

The Bank’s first tournament was played at the Karen Golf and Country Club in Nairobi in May this year and was won by Francis Makanga who posted a massive 40 points to emerge the  overall winner. nike air max homme pas cher nike air max homme pas cher
