Being followed by a big crowd of local golf fans, Greg Snow resisted the pressure to remain as the joint top placed local players alongside Nyanza’s David Odhiambo at the ongoing Barclays Kenya Open Golf at the par 71 Karen Golf and Country Club.

Snow and Odhiambo were tied 22nd and enters tomorrow’s final round trailing the leader by seven points as they posted a total of two under par 209.

Snow had three bogeys and two birdies. Nyanza’s David Odhiambo today played level par 71 to remain at two under par 209.

Odhiambo started his round on a poor note with three bogeys in the first six holes. He played two back-to-back bogeys at the par five second hole and par four hole five, before dropping another shot on the par four sixth, then tried to salvage the nine with a birdie on the par four eigth hole for a first nine score of 37.

In the second nine, Odhiambo who won the JTL Masters tournament last week in Muthaiga, birdied the par four 12^th hole and par three 14^th for a score of 34.

The other local players who made the cut, Nyali’s Kopan Timbe, Njuguna Ngige and Brian Njoroge had mixed results on tournament’s third day.

Timbe finished tied 41^st on one over par 214 after playing level par on the third day where he had a double bogey on the par four third hole, then recovered with two birdies on the par four fourth hole and par four 12^th hole.

Ngugi of Railway Club played two over today for a total of four over par 217, while Njoroge played a poor round of three over for a total of five over par 218. maillot de foot 2018 maillot de foot 2018

An eagle on the par five hole 18 was enough to guarantee Dutchman Tim Sluiter a second round over night lead on eight under par 134 at the ongoing Barclays Kenya Open Golf Championship at the par 71 Karen Golf and Country Club.

After playing two under on the first day, the 23-year-old Dutchman went a notch higher at yesterday’s round where he played six under, thanks to the albatross on the final hole, alongside six birdies.

He started the round on a poor note with a bogey on the par four third hole, played a birdie on the par three fifth, dropped another shot on the par four sixth, then recovered with two birdies on the par three seventh and par four ninth for a first nine score of 34.

In the second nine, Sluiter played a birdie on the par four hole 10, then picked another shot on the par four 12^th. In the last two holes, he picked a shot on the par four 17^th hole before hitting an eagle on the final hole for a second nine score of 31.

Spaniard Jordi Garcia Pinto fired seven birdies on the way to a five under par second round of 66 to trail the leader by a single shot and tied in the second position with Scottish George Murray after the second round.

The Spaniard began the day three shots off the overnight lead held by HP Bacher at Karen Country Club but a flying start, with birdies at the second and third, proved a sign of things to come.

A bogey at the seventh hole meant he reached the turn in two under but back to back birdies at the 11th and 12th was followed by a superb up and down for birdie at the 15th and while he dropped a shot at the 16th, he bounced straight back with a gained shot at 17 to move out in front on seven under.

“I played really well today from the very start,” said Garcia Pinto. “After the early birdies I was very relaxed and just enjoyed the day.

“I hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens, whereas yesterday I missed a lot of greens, so it was important to get those early birdies.

“I was very calm and relaxed. I like this course a lot. My coach Joan Anglada played here about 25 years ago when he played on The European Tour and he said the course was perfect for me. It’s tricky but I like it.”
