Muithaiga’s Greg Snow completed a late surge to win the second leg of the KCB Pro Am competition at the par 72 Thika Sports Club on eight under par 280.

Despite posting a disappointing three over par 75 on the final day of the 72-hole competition, he held on to win the competition ahead of Golf Park’s Tony Omuli who had held the leader board lead for the first two rounds.

He shot two birdies in holes two and three and followed that with a couple of pars on holes five, six, seven and eight before dropping a shot in hole nine for a total of 37 gross in the front nine.

In the back nine Snow shot seven pars and dropped two shots on holes 12 and 17 for a score of 38.

The win saw Snow increase his points in the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) order of merit and also pocket a winner’s prize of Sh 200, 000.

I played good golf in the second and third rounds, but the rain on the final day affected my play,” said Snow.

Early pace setter Omuli, Railway’s Njuguna Ngugi and Thika’s Simon Ngige tied in the runner-up position on five under par 283.

The third leg of the competition will be held at the nine-hole Nyanza Golf Club next month.

Golf Park’s Tony Omuli today maintained his lead after the second round of the ongoing KCB Pro-Am tournament at the par 72 Thika Sports Club.
He is, however, enjoying a single shot lead over Muthaiga’s Greg Snow as he is on eight under par 136 going into today’s third round.
Omuli who turned professional five months ago, sunk birdies on holes 1, 2, 7, and 9 for a score of 32 gross in the first nine. In the second nine he picked shots on holes 10 and 16 for a total of 36 gross and only dropped two shots. Only 12 professional players made the cut after yesterday’s round.
Snow is second on seven under par 137, followed by Njuguna Ngugi and Brian Njoroge who are tied third on three under par 141.

I got a good experience at the Kenya Open last week even though I missed the cut, the exposure was a vital impetus to my performance going forward,” said Omuli.
