COCA-COLA SPONSORS THE 2017 BARCLAYS KENYA OPEN TO A TUNE OF SH 4M

Coca-Cola Company through the East African Franchise, has announced a Sh 4 million sponsorship injection towards this year’s edition of the Barclays Kenya Open 2017. Coca-Cola, who has been the official water sponsor of the tournament for 7 years, will this year come on board with Keringet Mineral Water, a member of the Coca-Cola family.

Speaking at the ceremony, Coca-Cola Marketing Manager for Kenya Lucy Odour said, “The Kenya Open Golf Championship is a tournament steeped in rich-history; history that we at The Coca-Cola Company are very proud to be a part of. This marks our seventh year as the official water sponsor of the tournament, however this year we will be coming on-board through Keringet Mineral Water, the newest member of the Coca-Cola Family.”

By retaining our presence and participation in a premier golfing occasion such as this, Coca-Cola is able to combine the promise of refreshment with a sense of thrill, celebration and passion for the game of Golf,” she continued.” We know people are increasingly looking for ways to stay hydrated and refreshed throughout the day, and through our diverse product offering, are committed to providing consumers with options, “she concluded.

This year marks the 49th edition of the prestigious tournament, which will be held at the Muthaiga Golf Club between the 23rd and 26th of March.

The Kenya Open Golf championship is the oldest and most prestigious golf tournament in East Africa and is a part of the European Challenge Tour. SNOW FREEZES OPPONENTS TO TAKE SINGLE SHOT LEAD AT JAMII PGK MASTERS IN SIGONA

Muthaiga’s Greg Snow has taken a single shot lead after the second round of this year’s Jamii Telcom PGK Masters tournament at the par 73 Sigona Golf Club.

Snow who finished the first round tied third and three shots behind early pace setter Dismas Indiza, recovered in the second round to take the lead going into tomorrow’s the third round.

He managed four under par 69 for a total of six under par 140 after scoring 71 in the competition’s first round.

Round one overnight leader Indiza of Mumias who is currently second on the leader board, today played level par 73 for a total five under par 141, while Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) captain CJ Wangai of Railways and Nyanza’s David Odhiambo are tied third on a two round total of four over par 142.

Wanga had an identical round one score of two under par 71 yesterday, while Odhiambo who played three under on the first day today managed one under.

Kopan Timbe is fifth on three under par 144 (73, 71) and reigning tournament champion Simon Ngige of Thika is sixth on two under par 145 (72, 73).
