SuperSport viewers on DStv can look forward to seeing all the action from the Magical Kenya Open at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 March 2022.

SuperSport is the ultimate destination for Golf fans, with an unparalleled selection of action from around the world.

The Magical Kenya Open is an event featured on the DP World Tour (European Tour), having previously been associated with the Safari Circuit and Challenge Tour. It was first established in 1967 and has featured some legendary winners down the years, including the likes of Seve Ballesteros, Ian Woosnam and three-time champion Maurice Bembridge.

The reigning title holder is South African Justin Harding, who shot 263 (– 21) to win by two strokes ahead of American Kurt Kitayama in the 2021 edition, which was held at the Karen Country Club. Harding will be looking to defend his title when this year’s Magical Kenya Open gets underway on Thursday.

“It’s exciting, you don’t always get the opportunity to defend but I’ve always played quite nicely here in Kenya albeit on the other course in Karen. From what I’ve seen so far this week, this golf course at Muthaiga is beautiful, in good nick,” said Harding.

He added, “I love Kenya, for one the people are just super-friendly and hospitable. I think the crowds are always great, I’ve loved my time here. They’re very welcoming, they embrace the Kenya Open, it’s got a lot of rich history and it’s always a well-supported event. I haven’t had the opportunity to safari yet, so that’s still on the bucket list.

“It’s essential we come to places like this, I think it’s a big reason why DP World became the title sponsors of the tour. It’s within the culture of the tour that we get to go everywhere. We get to see everywhere – from Asia to Europe to Africa.”

One of Harding’s main threats will come from 2019 Magical Kenya Open champion Guido Migliozzi of Italy, while last year’s Kenya Savannah Classic winner, Daniel van Tonder, is another to keep an eye out for.

The Muthaiga Golf Club features a 7,184-yard par 71 course. The purse for the Magical Kenya Open is €1,750,000.

SuperSport viewers on DStv can look forward to seeing all the action from the PGA Tour’s The Honda Classic at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 February 2022.

SuperSport is the ultimate destination for Golf fans, with an unparalleled selection of action from around the world.

First played in 1972 as the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic, this tournament was won last year by Matt Jones, who shot 268 (-12) to end five strokes ahead of runner-up Brandon Hagy. “It’s been seven years [since his previous PGA Tour win]. It’s been a tough seven years,” Jones said. “I’ve had ups and I’ve had downs, as all golfers have, but it gets me into a lot of big tournaments now.”

This year’s field at The Honda Classic will feature Jones as returning champion, as well as the likes of Brooks Koepka and Rickie Fowler, two of the biggest fan favourites in golf.

Koepka, a four-time major winner, is returning to the Champion course where he finished second in 2019, after being forced to miss the 2021 event with a freak knee injury, while Fowler, who won the 2017 Honda and finished second in 2019 and sixth in 2016, also is looking to regain his winning form in 2022.

Mentally, I still think I’m 21. But the past three years, there’s the realisation I’m not that young person any more who can go Jet Ski or wakeboard or whatever,” Koepka said recently. “Getting out of bed now takes 30 minutes to get going. You have to change your lifestyle. I probably packed on 10 to 15 pounds after the knee surgery because I can’t be as active as I was. I can’t go run. I’m never going to be able to run again. You’re parking closer to the door than before and all that.”

Fowler, meanwhile, says he has been feeling good in recent weeks: “It has been a bit more of just going out and not worrying so much about the swing, not golf swing but just playing golf and hitting shots. It’s been fun to be back in a position where I can just go play golf. And like I said, we put the work in on the swing, and so time to stop worrying about that and go play golf. It’s been a long time coming, but it is nice to finally start to see some results.”

The PGA National Resort & Spa Champion Course is a 7,140-yard par 70. The purse for The Honda Classic is $8million.
