Recently crowned 2016 Kenya Ladies Open Stroke play and Match play Golf Champion Kellie Gachaga who became the youngest player in the country to win the two titles back-to-back and Mutahi Kibugu who was a member of the victorious national side that won the inaugural Victoria Cup Trophy held at Muthaiga in June this year leave on Friday (July 8, 2016) for the Junior Open championships 2016, to be held at Kilmarnock (Barassie) golf club, Ayrshire Scotland from 11th to 13th July 2016, United Kingdom.

The 16-year old Kellie, handicap 4 is currently a student at Aga Khan High School Nairobi. She has represented the national golf team from the age of 14 years. Kellie is a member of the Kenya junior team and Kenya Ladies Golf Team. She participated in the inaugural All Africa Junior Golf Challenge in Nyali Mombasa in August 2015, where the Kenya team won the event and All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), which was held in Tunis, Tunisia in April this year.

Mutahi Kibugu, 15 years of age, currently playing off handicap three is in year 10 at St. Austin’s Academy. He has won over 20 tournaments countrywide since becoming a top-ranking golfer.

The best boy and Girl to represent Kenya is selected at the Annual Boys and Girls Championships held in August in the year preceding the Junior Open.
