OWITI TAKES KGU TO SPORTS TRIBUNAL OVER VICTIMIZATION
By KGG REPORTER
Outspoken top amateur golfer Robinson Owiti has taken issue with Kenya Golf Union (KGU) and reported them to the Sports Tribunal for suspending him from the national team for a year for raising pertinent issues against the union.
Owiti a former national team captain had questioned the criteria the union used in picking the national team, arguing that the Golfer Of The Year (GOTY) series was the best way of picking the best amateurs to represent the country at the national level instead of a single qualifying event.
He also questioned the selection of Royal’s Jay Sandhu and Bo Ciera in the national team despite claims that they were not Kenyan citizens.
“The union is victimizing me for saying they did not use the right criteria for picking the national team. They went ahead to suspend me from the national team and GOTY events for one year even without asking me to show cause,” Owiti said.
He added: “I had also questioned why Jay Sandhu was being included in the national team for the Africa Amateur Golf Teams Championships held in Limuru in October yet he was dropped from the national team in 2013 ahead of the Africa Zone VI tournament for having a British passport. Bo Ciera’s nationality is also not clear.” nike air max ladies nike air max ladies
