Muthaiga’s professional Nicholas Rokoine inched closer to the KCB Grand Finale golf tournament victory as well as the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) Order of Merit title with a credible eight shot lead from Rwandese E. Ruterana after the third round at the Nyali Golf and Country Club on Friday.
Rokoine fired 1 under par 70 as round three action came to a dramatic end at the par 71 course. Amateur golfers also had the opportunity to brush shoulders with professionals during the KCB Corporate Golf Day (Pro Am) which was also played.
Rokoine was happy with his current imperious form. All he needs to do is to maintain the tempo and keep his cool in today’s last round.
After 3 round of brilliant display, Rokoine now leads on 7 under par 206.
“Its really encouraging. Everything has. Worked out well for me,” said Rokoine who played 3 under par  68 on the opening two rounds and 1 under par yesterday.
Second is Ruterana, who has also remained consistent over the last three days.  The Rwandese has however found Rokoine a hard nut to crack.
David Wakhu of Great Rift has been impressive with his strokes and was all smiles when he played level par in the third round. Wakhu is now lying third in the Day 3 leaderboard with 2 over par 215. Thika’s Simon Ngige played a round of 3 over par 74 in the third round and is ranked jointly fourth with Jacob Okello on 7 over par 220.
Joint sixth on plus 8 are Ajay Shah, Ugandan Deo Akope and Windor pro Bryan Njoroge.
On his way up, Rokoine parred on the first 2 holes but sunk 3 birdies on holes 3, 11 and 17. He dropped two shots on holes 13 and 14 for a score of 35 in the front nine and repeated the same in the back nine. Play resumes today at  8am.
